BDF Masjid Waqf Fund is a testimony to this infinite value bestowed upon that which is spent with the intention of pleasing Allah (S.W.T.).
BDF plans the Masjid Waqf Fund, which is aimed at providing assistance to Masjid in need of building improvement and/or renovations as well as other needs of the Masjid. Following the accumulation of these Waqf program BDF currently has a new Masjids that needs finishing and 4 other Masjids that are in need for renovations.
The New Masjid in Buur Ukur Kebele Ferfer Woreda of Shebelle Zone is almost in its last stage and direly needs the finishing touchups of painting, electricity, Tilling, Salah mat, sound system and Mus-haf Qur’an kariim.
The other 4 Masjid (2 in Buur Ukur Old Masjids and 2 Masjids in Ferfer Woreda) mostly need few renovations, sound system, Salah mat and Mushaf Qur’an kariim.
Since the holy month of Ramadan is almost approaching and the 5 Masjids should be ready before the 1st of Ramadan – 28th February 2025 insha Allaah.

2. WATER BOREHOLE DRILLING PROJECT
FERFER WOREDA, BUUR UKUR AND GAL-USBO KEBELE
Shebelle Zone, Somali Regional State.
SUMMARY
Both Ferfer Woreda, Buur Ukur and Gal Usbo Kebele community struggle to get purified water for their daily needs and fetch untreated drinking water with Donkeys from the river which is about a distance of 18km to Ferfer and 6km to Buur Ukur and Gal Usbo.
Solutions
Since water is necessary for the survival of all living organisms on earth, BDF plans the drilling of Three Borehole Water Project to be implemented at Buur Ukur, Gal Usbo Kebele and Ferfer Woreda of Shebelle Zone, Somali Regional State in order to sustain their basic needs of clean and easy accessible water. The accessibility of the Water will be used for not only drinking but also catering for the farms and livestock’s which will be also an income generation for the community.

On April 3rd, 2024, BDF with the collaborations of Horn of Africa Water Company conducted a Water Borehole survey at Buur Ukur Kebele of Ferfer Woreda and successfully indicated the availability of groundwater to meet the daily water needed and planning the drilling of Five (5) Borehole Water at Ferfer District.
With the ultimate goal of establishing cost-effectiveness, reliability, and ease accessibility of effective solution for communities with substandard Light accessibility, BDF plans to set up Street Solar LED Lights at Ferfer Woreda and Buur Ukur Kebele of Shebelle Zone, Somali Region of Ethiopia.

In order to decrease the risk death of the night darkness caused by snakes and other dangerous animals like donkey chasing one another causing death accident to people mostly Children and Elders. Sheikh Yussuf Alkonein Madressa mostly serves the Aytaam (Orphans) Children of Buur Ukur, Ferfer and Abaaley residents and are taught the Islamic Studies such as Tahfeedul Qur’an, Ahaadiith of the Prophet (S.A.W.), Islamic Tarbiya and Ethics.
This Aytaam Children are from the neediest families who cannot afford to educate their children neither have the ability to support them financially.

6. Emergency Humanitarian Assistance Project for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)

735 Families in the surrounding area of Buur became IDP’s and lost most of their belongings through the flood and stranded with no help and needs emergency humanitarian assistance urgently. Among their needs are shelter, Food, Medicine and Sanitation.

Buur Ukur Ferfer Woreda (District), Gode Zone of Regional Somali State of Federal Ethiopia is among the flooded towns caused by River Shebelle. At a distance of about 6 km from the river, on November 2023, the River water has reached its highest level since last period of 1984. Buur Ukur has 758 local famers mostly lose their crops due to the floods let alone their Generators that are washed away by the river every season addition to the evacuations from their Houses and graze less to their Cattle’s.

10. Floods in every Rainy Season in Ferfer Woreda Municipality
Problem Description

11. Ferfer Municipality Water Dam and Irrigation Canal
FERFER WOREDA TO BUUR UKUR KEBELE
Many famers straggles with water shortage during dry water period despite lots of runoff water when it rains, leaving the farmers with no source of water for their livestock and crops. Dam water for agriculture project under BDF in an effort to show case water storage and plans to set up a Dam site in Buur Ukur Ferfer Woreda District area along the river Shebelle.
Solutions
To avoid the water shortages that cause drought, Water Dam and Canals for agriculture project helps the farmers improve and increase water productivity as well as increase their income through introducing water efficiency that will save on labor, looking at the amount of water the project will consume.

Ferfer Woreda Municipality, Shebelle zone of Somali Regional State, has almost 40km fertile land for Farming a long side the River Shebelle. Ferfer Woreda Municipality has 758 local farmers who mostly depends on crops and Cattle’s which both are essential on water dependents.
The local production line of Ferfer Municipality Farmers mostly are Bananas, Mangoes, Lemons, Papaw, Water Melon, Pumpkin, Maize, Corn, Onions, Tomatoes, Potatoes, Garlic, Ginger, Chilies, Okra, Egg-Plant, Sesame Oil, Spinach, and many other fruits and vegies. Most of their cattle’s are Cows, Sheep and Goats.
The Farmers needs to get necessary training and learn how modern farmers are using new agriculture technology to increase their productivity and sustainability, which enables them the use of genetically modified crops and advanced breeding techniques to develop disease resistant and high-yielding varieties. Seeds and plantation are another dire needs to their productivity while

13. Ferfer Woreda Municipality Road Renovation Initiatives
The 5km poor condition of the gravel road of Buur Ukur Kebele has been one of the major obstacles towards the development of the town. Loss of life and goods has been encountered several times and it became worse during the November 2024 rainy season where the road was washed away from several places and resulted road closure due the floods of the rainfalls.
